Suffolks in 2025

We recognise the need to provide the platform for you to market your sheep in the best possible way. and we are looking at options.
Over the past few years the number of MV Suffolk yearlings in the Straker Chadwick ring has been decreasing whilst the number of rams entered in the McCartneys Suffolk non MV ring is increasing year on year. The committee feel that we have reached a maximum number in that ring and would like to know your views and to gauge support for a MV Suffolk section. This would enable any MV Suffolk breeders to buy yearlings without having the inconvenience of isolation and testing when they have purchased from the non MV ring.
The idea at the moment the plan would be to retain the non MV Suffolks in Hall 3, where they are at present, and put the new ring in Hall 2 alongside the Hexham Texel ring. The Suffolk yearlings would start the ring, followed by the Straker Chadwick ram lambs.
We would very much appreciate your thoughts on this possible move to provide the MV ring and a) Whether you would support it and B) if you could give some idea of numbers that you might enter? We know September 2025 is a long way off, but these things take a lot of planning so we must push on with any changes we make to the sale.
