Blue Texel success!

Confidence Giver

A budget priced Blue Texel ram lamb, purchased at last year’s NSA Wales & Border main sale, has proved a sound investment for the Head family. Kieran and Kim Head bought him for £230 and, after winning a clutch of Firsts and Championships at local shows, they reckon he is now worth around £800.

The young ram has also helped their eight year old daughter, Maisie, to learn the finer points of handling. She says his gentle nature has given her the confidence to go on and win Young Handler competitions at several shows this summer.

The family will be back at the Royal Welsh Showground for this year’s main sale on Monday, 25 September, hoping to make another purchase. They’ll be looking for another ram lamb and with Maisie’s little sister, three year old Elsie, also a keen young handler, it’s likely to be a family affair.

Kieran says the Headway flock they run on 30 acres near Stepaside in Pembrokeshire provides fun, interest and days out for the family.
