NSA Main Sale
8th May 2019
The NSA Wales & Border Main Sale will be held at the Royal Welsh Showground on Monday 23rd September.
The Ram Sale committee considered the responses from auctioneers and breed societies and decided to revert to the original format. It will this year be held in the third week of September.
In yet another year of uncertainty for the industry, the sale is regarded as the venue of choice for veterinary inspected, quality stock. It enjoys an international reputation as the biggest sale in Europe and regularly attracts vendors and buyers from across the UK and beyond.
Organisers say that despite the current uncertainty overshadowing the industry, the sale enjoys the confidence of vendors and buyers. A strong lamb trade also augurs well.
Last year’s 40th anniversary sale saw a solid trade, despite the unpredictability of the political climate and the vagaries of the weather. There was an 80% clearance of the 4,727 rams forward. Turnover was £1.84million.
The highest price went to a Blue Faced Leicester ram. The 12,000 guinea tup was sold by Vale of Glamorgan couple, semi-retired Tudor and Janet Harris, and was the highlight of a day that saw good rams sell well.
The closing date for sale entries is Wednesday 7th August. Online entries are now an established option and previous sales and pictures can be viewed online.
